Product Review

I own a Canon PowerShot A590IS 8MP Digital Camera and consider myself a photography enthusiast. I wanted a small compact camera with me when I don’t want to lug around my DSLR + lenses and equipment. After a previous good experience with the Canon A720 IS, the new A590 IS seemed like a good choice.

Since I’m an advanced photographer, I’ll focus on the advanced features of this camera. The auto modes work as well as any other camera in its class, but the extensive manual features is what sets apart the Canon A series. What I like about the camera:

Compact, stylish. It’s smaller than older A Powershots, and the dark grey color gives it a seriousness compared to the typical bright silver finish.

Image stabilization works very well, it allows me to take blur-free photos 2-3 stops below the recommended shutter speed, that means at 35-50mm f2.8 1/10 sec shots are CONSISTENTLY possible indoors without using flash.

Good image quality. Expected from Canon, but even better is adjustable contrast, saturation, and sharpness settings, along with the typical JPG compression and resolution sizes.

Fast and responsive. I was surprised how responsive this camera is even compared with my DSLR. Shutter lag is very low for a compact digicam, and when I pre-focus with manual focus, it’s even faster.

Manual modes. Aperture priority and shutter priority are great, the M mode is even better than other A Powershots such as the A720 because now there’s a light meter on the right side that adjusts live based on what the camera thinks is the optimal exposure setting. And you can adjust aperture/shutter speed and see how it affects the final exposure. Ideally a live histogram would be even better, but this is very handy.

Manual focus. Although the LCD resolution is not good enough, even with the point zoom option, manual focus helps in close-up work and pre-focusing for action or creative photography.

Manual flash modes. In addition to automatic flash. The manual flash allows me to adjust the flash power in 3 levels, and prevents a pre-flash. This last part is important for using a remote optical slave flash. I can basically take professional looking studio pictures with this camera with my external flash equipment.

Optical viewfinder. I don’t use this much yet, but can come in handy in bright sunlight conditions, or when battery conservation is needed.

Battery performance seems improved over previous A powershots too. The official specs give it 220 shots on regular alkalines and 500 on rechargeable NiMHs. Good news is they use common AA batteries that you can buy anywhere instead of proprietary models with specific chargers.

The Egg & Muffin Toaster by Back to Basics is an ingenious product designed to toast two bread, bagel, croissant, or English muffin slices and cook an egg, while warming a slice of Canadian bacon or sausage. It does all three functions simultaneously so you're ready to assemble and eat a delicious breakfast sandwich within minutes. The unit measures 15-1/4 inches long by 7 inches deep by 8 inches tall. The entire left side of the unit is a standard two-slice toaster with 5.5x1.5-inch slots.

The right side of the unit contains a round cooking chamber with removable steamer tray, egg poaching tray, warming tray (for meats), and lid with steam vent. The poaching tray holds one egg, which cooks in about 4 minutes, while the toasting is taking place. The steamer tray also can be used to hard-boil up to four eggs. The amazing thing about this appliance is how all the functions are perfectly timed so everything is ready at the same time. Overall, owners of the Hoover Tempo Widepath U5140-900 upright vacuum are very happy with their purchase. They cite the vac's low weight (only 16 pounds) compared to others, which makes it easier to push and to carry up and down stairs. Owners are also pleased with the included allergen filter. The Hoover Tempo Widepath gets better feedback from owners than more-expensive vacuums in Hoover's lineup. Because the brush roll can't be turned off, the Widepath isn't the best choice for bare floors because the brush roll can spit debris back out. The Eureka Boss SmartVac 4870MZ (*est. $150) costs more, but its brush roll can be turned off, making it a better choice for vacuuming bare floors.

Strengths: Really generate heat, light weight, compact model

Summary: I got this heater from Amazon. For the price I paid, I am very happy with the purchase. It is a little compact heater and will occupy very less space in my room. It generates good amount of heat required to keep a 10 feet X 10 feet room warm. It has a thermostat control on the top side of the heater where we can control the heat levels. It also has a control to vary the fan speed. To avoid excess heating, it has a auto-shut-off option which shuts of the heater automatically after a period of time. It has a little indicator on the front side of the heater that can tell whether the heater is running or not. All in all a nice little heater that can keep a relatively smaller room WARM !

About Graco

In 1942, Russell Gray and Robert Cone formed Graco Metal Products, in Philadelphia, PA. For 11 years, the firm fabricated machine and car parts for local manufacturers. In 1953, Gray left the firm, leaving Cone as sole owner. Cone decided to manufacture his own line of products, but had trouble coming up with ideas. Enter David Saint, an engineer, tinkerer, and stained glass artisan who worked for Graco. Saint, himself a father of nine, was intrigued when an associate told him how his wife would soothe their tired and cranky baby while swinging in a backyard glider swing.
